Community-Driven Infrastructure

CHF International believes in infrastructure activities that are demand driven, sustainable, and integrated with broader development objectives, such as fostering healthy communities, enhancing economic development, and in the aftermath of disasters, accelerating the recovery process.

In line with CHF’s mission to serve as a catalyst for positive change, CHF’s infrastructure construction activities directly involve targeted beneficiaries in order to maintain a sense of ownership and empowerment. Quite often, this is in the form of democratic community prioritization of public infrastructure projects, such as inHaiti, Serbia, and Iraq. In addition, the establishment of community-based maintenance and management committees ensures local ownership. Whether projects are designed to bolster development or rebuild after disasters, CHF International provides training and directly hires local labor to ensure that each project has the greatest possible effect on the local economy.
